Top 15 Prospects - 2024 Bowman Baseball
Our list of 1st Bowman Prospect that you should know about.
About a month away from the release of 2024 Bowman baseball, we're sharing our prospect analysis alongside the release of the set checklist on our website, chasingmajors.com.
The group of prospects listed below are slated for either a 1st Bowman Chrome and/or 1st Bowman Prospect Autograph card in the upcoming release. I'm excited to unveil our Top 15 Prospects list that we’ll be eyeing on release day.
15 - Jose Rodriguez, OF, MIN, Age: 18
Having spent two years in the lower minors, Rodriguez, at just 18 years old, is slated for Low-A in 2024. His development hinges on progress at the plate, particularly in terms of improved plate discipline while hitting against tougher pitchers.
It’s worth noting that Rodriguez has primarily played right field, but his speed and glove have yet to emerge as notable strengths.
14 - Cooper Pratt, SS, MIL, Age: 19
Pratt is projected to be an athletic infielder with a raw offensive skill set in the long term. He demonstrates a smooth right-handed swing with a moderate leg kick. Although his batting abilities have yet to be challenged by professional pitching, his talent seems genuine.
13 - Luis Baez, OF, HOU, Age: 20
Baez is considered a late bloomer in terms of his professional baseball skills, but he remains an intriguing prospect. While his hitting abilities are raw and somewhat limited, there are signs of positive momentum in his overall development. His defensive skills may be slightly more advanced than his batting, but we're closely monitoring his progression.
12 - Luke Adams, 3B, MIL, Age: 19
Starting his professional career strongly in rookie ball, Adams is poised for a breakout power season in 2024. With a slash line of .375/.512/.563 in just 32 plate appearances, Adams is viewed as another pivotal piece in the Brewers' long-term strategy.
11 - Ramon Ramirez , C, KCR, Age: 18
Ramirez emerges as a high-upside prospect, a right-handed catcher who, while not initially highly ranked, garnered attention due to his impressive stats during his season in the Dominican Summer League (DSL), elevating him to a prospect worth watching despite his previous unranked status.
10 - Yoeilin Cespedes , SS, BOS, Age: 18
Despite his small stature, Cespedes has garnered praise for his exceptional contact hitting skills. In his DSL season, he posted an impressive slash line of .346/.392/.560 with 6 home runs and 38 RBIs. If Cespedes maintains this positive progression, he is poised to become one of the top 3 prospects in the Red Sox farm system in no time.
9 - Abimelic Ortiz, 1B, TEX, Age: 22
Ortiz had an impressive showing in 2023, earning recognition as the Tom Grieve Player of the Year for his outstanding performance at first base. He seemed to find his stride and power with the bat, tallying 33 home runs, 20 doubles, and drawing 49 walks throughout the season.
8 - Yohandy Morales, 3B, WSN, Age: 22 (MLB Top 100 #100)
Morels has swiftly ascended through the minors, showcasing dominance at Single-A and earning a promotion to AA. Currently ranked within the top 5 of the Nationals' prospect ranks, we anticipate his hitting prowess to transition effectively against higher-level pitching.
7 - Aidan Miller, SS/3B, Phi, Age: 19 (MLB Top 100 #56)
Miller stands out as the prospect poised for the most significant leap in 2024. Despite occasional struggles, his limited exposure to professional baseball showcased his hitting abilities as a notable strength. Beginning 2024 in High-A, Miller is a player worth watching to and for card prospectors timing his market effectively, specifically if we see early success.
